New England Contra Dance
Friday, May. 11
8 p.m. to 11 p.m.
Alice Morris 603-529-1586 weareampm@gsinet.net
|
Combining the rich history of Celtic, Scottish, French-Canadian, English and other cultural backgrounds, contra dancing provides an easy, friendly social gathering for people of all ages. All dances are introduced with a short walk through, and use many of the figures later incorporated into square dancing.
People as young as eight, and as old as the hills, enjoy these get togethers as a healthy, family-friendly, and fun activity in a low-cost, no-pressure, non-smoking, alcohol free community environment. No partner is necessary, but many come with one or more friends to share the fun. People come for the exercise, the great music, the friendly people, and the general social
atmosphere. All ages are welcome.
Dress is casual -- we do ask that you bring clean-soled shoes to protect the floor. Many find that smooth leather soles will provide easier turning. Dress for active participation! Bring fresh water, and perhaps a snack to share.
